Interscope Pathology has long been a leader in Pap Smear technology. We were among the first in Southern California to offer the Hologic (formerly Cytyc) liquid based ThinPrep® Pap Test (TPPT) which when combined with their Imaging System has become the standard for Pap smear primary screening.

When your patient's specimen is sent here, it is first screened by the Imaging System. All slides are then screened by California Licensed Cytotechnologists who are board certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology. If any abnormalities are noted, the smear is then reviewed by a Board Certified Pathologist.

IPMG is now offering SurePath® liquid based method for pap testing in addition to the ThinPrep® method, giving our clients freedom to choose which test they feel is suited for their practice.

High Risk HPV and CT/GC screening can be performed from either specimen type.

For most Pap Smears, you can expect a ONE BUSINESS DAY turn around time from the time the specimen arrives in our lab. Abnormal Pap Smears may require a second business day for the Pathologist review.
