Interscope Pathology has long been a leader in Pap Smear technology. We were among the first in Southern California to offer the newest Pap smear method, the Cytyc liquid based ThinPrep® Pap Test (TPPT), which is rapidly becoming the standard for Pap smear primary screening.

Over 4 years of experience with the ThinPrep® Pap Test makes Interscope Pathology one of the most experienced labs in Southern California. We have earned the distinction of being a certified training facility for Cytyc, and we were a  clinical center for the Greater Los Angeles Cytotechnology Training Consortium.

Interscope Pathology utilizes the Cytyc® Thin Prep Imaging System. When your patient’s specimen is sent here, it is first screened by the Imaging System. All slides are then screened by California Licensed Cytotechnologists who are board certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. If any abnormalities are noted, the smear is then reviewed by a Board Certified Pathologist.
In addition, a minimum of 10% of all negative Pap Smears are reviewed daily by the department Supervisor and/or a Pathologist.

For most normal Pap Smears you can expect a one business day turn around time from the time the specimen arrives in our lab. Abnormal Pap Smears require a second business day for the Pathologist review.
